Ako sa dá hovoriť o bývaní v Európe, kde sa bytová politika čoraz viac podriadila logike trhu a čoraz menej sa opiera o starostlivosť a solidaritu? Táto dvojjazyčná kniha vznikla v Košiciach – na mieste, kde sa pretínajú hranice, príbehy ľudí na úteku a každodenné zápasy s nedostupným bývaním. V roku 2022 sa mesto stalo jedným z hlavných centier pomoci pre ľudí prichádzajúcich z Ukrajiny. No popri vlne solidarity sa rýchlo ukázala aj iná realita: stovky prázdnych bytov, minimum dostupných nástrojov a takmer žiadna verejná infraštruktúra, ktorá by ich vedela spravodlivo sprístupniť.
Zborník Bývanie v čase kríz prepája skúsenosti zo Slovenska s európskym kontextom. Sleduje, ako sa klimatická kríza, ekonomická nestabilita, zlyhanie trhu s bývaním či dôsledky migrácie pretavujú do konkrétnych každodenných situácií. Autorky a autori z rôznych kútov Európy tu spoločne premýšľajú, diskutujú, kreslia mapy a vytvárajú nové aliancie. Ukazujú, že bývanie nie je len o tom, kde a ako žijeme – ale aj o tom, čo považujeme za spoločné, spravodlivé a možné.
Publikácia nadväzuje na podnety a otázky letnej školy Never Never School 2023 – priestoru pre dialogické vzdelávanie a interdisciplinárne experimentovanie s urbánnymi utópiami. Kolektív Spolka+ ju organizuje od roku 2018 v Košiciach pre jednotlivcov a kolektívy z oblasti architektúry, umenia, sociálnych vied a miestotvorby. Každý ročník prepája rôzne perspektívy a vytvára priestor pre spoločné odpovede na naliehavé otázky súčasnosti. Ročník 2023, zameraný na tému bývania, sa stal základom tejto knihy.

How can we talk about housing in Europe, where housing policy has increasingly bowed to market logic and relies less and less on care and solidarity? This bilingual book was created in Košice – a place where borders intersect with the stories of people in flight and the everyday struggles with inaccessible housing. In 2022, the city became one of the main hubs of assistance for people arriving from Ukraine. But alongside the wave of solidarity, another reality quickly surfaced: hundreds of empty apartments, a minimum of available tools, and almost no public infrastructure capable of making them fairly accessible.
The collection Housing in Times of Crisis connects experiences from Slovakia with the European context. It explores how the climate crisis, economic instability, the failure of the housing market, and the consequences of migration translate into specific everyday situations. Authors from different corners of Europe come together here to reflect, discuss, draw maps, and build new alliances. They show that housing is not only about where and how we live – but also about what we consider shared, fair, and possible.
The publication builds on the themes and questions raised at the Never Never School 2023 – a space for dialogical education and interdisciplinary experimentation with urban utopias. Since 2018, the Spolka+ collective has organized it in Košice for individuals and collectives from the fields of architecture, art, social sciences, and placemaking. Each edition connects different perspectives and creates space for collective responses to the urgent issues of our time. The 2023 edition, focused on the theme of housing, became the foundation for this book.
