The texts translated in this book come from a late collection of essays written by Hans Kollhoff, gathered under the title Architektur, Schein und Wirklichkeit (Architecture, Appearance and Reality) and published by the German publisher Zu Klampen in 2014. Four texts have been selected for this first English translation. In each text, the architect takes a position and asserts the voice of the citizen, centering around questions of the life of the city and the common good.
The selection of texts and the interview were carried out by Pierre Lévy and Gabriel Coin-Andreotti, principals of Coin & Lévy Architectes (Paris).
