Popeye – The Best Style Sample – English Edition

This second-ever, all-English issue of the monthly Japanese fashion and culture magazine POPEYE is a compilation of articles from the annual STYLE SAMPLE January issue, dating from 2020 to 2026. This special issue is packed with fashion snaps of real City Boys and City Girls from 25 areas across 18 countries. There are also in-depth feature articles on topics such as the personal style of beloved musical artists such as King Krule, Sampha, and Blood Orange.

Popeye magazine is the “Magazine for City Boys”. The founders printed this on the cover of the magazine when it debuted in 1976. What’s a “city boy”? The term doesn’t appear in the dictionary and no expert panel could define it. So we felt we should explore every aspect of what this “city boy” might be.
