The Idler is a bimonthly magazine built around a simple idea: slow down, have fun, and live well. It explores idleness as a way to make more space for curiosity, pleasure, and a more fulfilled life—despite the small irony that producing a magazine about doing nothing takes quite a lot of work.

The August–September 2026 issue looks at how skateboarding is being reshaped by commercialisation, and how Phoenix-based event Slow Impact is using community-led conversations to rethink skate culture. Elsewhere, Megumi Koiwai takes readers through Japan’s intense post-graduate job-hunting process, while Guy Hayward heads into the Cotswolds on a pilgrimage inspired by the landscapes and writing of Laurie Lee.
