“Houston” by Thomas Block Humery is a work at the intersection of autobiography, photography, and autofiction, offering an intimate exploration of the city of Houston, far removed from conventional representations of major American metropolises. Through a deeply personal lens, the author transforms this vast and fragmented city into an emotional space, where memory, human relationships, and the passage of time reshape the perception of territory. Ten years after a lived experience there, Thomas Block Humery returns to the traces of a past that has become almost unreal, questioning the ability of images to convey absence, memory, and inner projections.
Between visual poetry and confession, “Houston” explores themes of displacement, the desire for elsewhere, and fragmented contemporary lives, turning the book into a sensitive object in which the city becomes both a mental landscape and a real territory.
About Alberto Artbooks
Founded in 2023 by French-German artist Thomas Block Humery, Alberto Artbooks is an independent publishing platform based in Paris, operating at the intersection of pho-
Photography, essays, and art objects.
