04 Act or Adapt. circ is an independent magazine and platform for the love of all things art. Rather than report, they collect.

Contributions of fine art, formal and informal writing, creative opportunities, and dating ads can be found tucked sweetly in its folds. circ invites the creative public to submit documentation of fine art, thoughts, essays, stories, recipes, or text in any format and tone that responds to the issue’s theme.

For each issue’s theme, Circ begins by listening backwards. Through a thematic analysis of previous contributions, a new theme emerges, creating an ongoing dialogue between contributors, readers and the issues themselves. Excavating themes from in between the lines is a tool, obsessions repeat, and patterns emerge through attention to the minute. The physical artefact embodies vulnerability and the tangibility of words, which we hope contributors and readers alike can take as a lifeline if ever feeling lost in the vast expanse of today. We believe this slower form of public discourse is important to preserve in an age shaped by rapid digital interaction.
