BRUTUS #1057

BRUTUS #1057 explores the work of Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto, whose practice spans photography, architecture, landscape design, performance, ceramics, and sculpture. Twenty years after its first major feature on Sugimoto, the magazine returns to his work alongside his latest exhibition, Extinct Photography, his first major Japanese exhibition focused primarily on photography in 21 years. Through his work, conversations with the people around him, and Sugimoto’s own words, this issue offers a closer look at the artist and the ideas behind his many creative pursuits.

Brutus (ブルータス) is a Japanese magazine focusing on pop culture, lifestyles, and culture in Tokyo and Japan. The first issue of the magazine appeared in May 1980.
