Completed shortly before John Morgan’s death in September 2025, Baskerville’s Teardrop Explodes: A Selection of Books as Muses gathers 31 books that shaped his imagination. Chosen for their visual presence and associative charge, these volumes influenced his practice as a book designer in distinct ways. Together, they form a personal Library of Muses reflecting the contradictions and layered sensibilities of his work. Selections range from titles prized for colour, materiality, or attitude to those evoking memory, romance, anxiety, humour, or failure. Each Muse carries its own energy - heroic, imperfect, excessive, modest, resonant - guiding Morgan’s creative direction and vision.
