Asia Issue #01

asia is a photo-based magazine exploring the Asian continent through intimate, lived perspectives rather than grand narratives. Each issue reveals quiet beauty, contradiction, and everyday life across the region.

The first issue features ten photographers from around the world. Martin Parr captures daily life in India with sharp humour; Jungjin Lee photographs Jeju Island in deep, ink-like tones; Farah Al Qasimi explores the surreal aesthetics of Dubai’s Dragon Mart. Alec Soth presents a previously unpublished journey through Hokkaido, while Nigel Shafran documents everyday moments in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The issue also includes work by Xiaopeng Yuan, Sarker Protick, Ryu Ika, Ece Gökalp, and Yukihito Kono.

Edited and published by Ko Ueoka, with art direction and design by Menghan Li, asia is released annually from Paris. Each issue is composed entirely of photographs taken across Asia, building a lasting visual archive of the region.
