Brot is a curated bookshop offering a selection of international magazines and non-fiction books. Our shelves are a blend of design and business, art, culture and popculture, social studies, self-help and pleasure of all sorts. We stock a good mixture of small indie publishers and established giants. And since we are pretty design-focused, sometimes we judge a book by it's cover.
We are interested in stuff that is important to be interested in. How to build better cities, how to take care of our minds and bodies, how to make sense of what's going on in the world. How to nourish your creativity, and how to make things worth making, and how to take pleasure from all of it.
Brot was co-founded in 2021 by a graphic designer and devoted book and magazine hoarder Martin Jenča, and Juraj Zamborský and Ivan Zaťko from Žurnál. Today, Brot is a team of four people. Three graphic designers — Martin, Lucia, and Nikola, and one fashion, travel, and nature enthusiast Jaja.
Besides being an online shop, Brot is also a brick-and-mortar shop. You can come and meet us there if you find yourself in Bratislava, Slovakia.
