Circ magazine – Issue #0

Circ is a magazine that probes behind the scenes of art, design and culture. It aims to open new discussions and discourse by offering the public blank pages for their expression. Circ invites everyone to write contributions through commentaries, opinions, stories, or essays. However, the borders of the textual form are yours to shape. The theme changes for every issue, yet it builds on previous contributions created by the public, resulting in the reactionary cycle between people working or merely interested in creative fields and Circ’s visual team. The form of Circ is a translation of an internet forum transformed into printed form. This tangibility proposes a different pace, dynamics and language into the realm of informal public dialogues.

Lena Knappova is a photographer, art director and co-founder of Circ whose work covers years of documenting fashion, art, people and music.

Paula Pokorna is a student of Interacion Design at Glasgow School of Art, junior new media designer, artist and co-founder of Circ working cross-disciplinary between conceptual art and communication design. Her topics are focusing on sociocultural issues.

Svatopluk Rucka is a designer and researcher based in Prague dealing with the possible and impossible intersections of fashion with other design disciplines. Using this synthesis as a tool was tested in his previous works such as his bachelor's project "Silver Lining", in which he explored contemporary knitting technologies. He also attended an internship at the fashion house Marine Serre. His topics include the future of (digital) fashion, alternative approaches to clothing production and wearability, and the effects of interdisciplinarity in fashion.
